Well i really want a digital camera, ive wanted one for donkeys and i have no idea on whats good and whats not.. i have no knowledge on cams at all, any ideas before i go buy something i regret?

digital zoom sucks, sales people will often try to sell a camera to u on what the digital zoom is, but what u want is a high optical zoom. this makes or breacksa camera.
u want a fast shutter speed too, test it out in the store first and see if u like it before being it

I bought an olympus mju (not the mini ones) 4megapixel set me back about ?140 when i got it.... which was yonks ago, but do you really need much more for quick pics with a small camera, it'd suck to loose like a 10meg camera on a night out :P

I would by a canon they have good photos and are easy to use.

go for the ixus range and not the A series (the are to big for a night out). 4 million megapixel is fine you don't need more than that unless you are going to be printing A3 or bigger photo's for putting on websites you can take the res down to like 2 million and that still gives a res of 1024x768

The Purple one may look a bit gay when you take it out in town to take pictures and is more likely to be stolen by a girl, but the black one would probably get stolen by a ned

with my 21st coming up, im thinking of what to get for it, and one of the things im thinking is getting a good camera. so suggestions will be welcome, has to be digital, with a brilliant shutter speed cos shutter lag is the bain of my existance,
