true, but other games are based on YOUR skill, not the level of your character.

To be fair, when it comes to pvp and the highest end raids player skill does actually become a factor, when the gear evens itself out. Not everyone fancies dedicating time to honing skills on a particular racing game/fps etc where it could be argued that time spent in the game (like wow) is important, not so much raw skill. In CS:Source for example i could do quite well in a clan match just knowing the sort of areas to be expecting players to come from, not having to actually rely on some crazy 16 year old snap aiming.

But horses for courses. i enjoy wow in a very casual slow levelling playstyle. Not interested in the end game content as it is.

I'd like to think my view are fairly unbiased as i've played a lot of different games for a considerable time online and seen the best and worst of each of the sides. Played competative FPS games for many years and been through 3 mmo's to what would be considered end game. Towards the peak of every game's playerbase is generally a bunch of elitist c**ts.

A sensible post from Mike...what is the world comming to

Your totally right though mate. Having been level 70 and doing the end game content there are a lot of elitist bastards that think they are better than everyone else.

I have stopped playing due to me wanting more time to spend doing other things. I do miss it but I know that if I went back I would end up raiding again and having no time for anything else.

If Warcraft has any faults it is that it IS a good game and addictive.

Yes the expansions have ruined the game thats why i quit after 4 years of actively playing the game with a years total played time. The expansions have pushed the game toward the more casual gamer, being a previous hardcore raider (pve) in pre burning crusade, i found the new content was too easily cleared and high level gear was too easily attained. PvE died for me with The burning crusade and i PvP'd instead getting to 2100 in arena season 3 as a retribution paladin (when i found pvp in the game at its best) Anyway along came Wrath of the Lion King, which introduced a new class to the game and further screwed up the games pvp balance. My paladin was too OP to even enjoy playing pvp it became boring.

So as a long term player my general opinion is that the expansions ruined the game

Oh and there was alot of skill involved in the pvp side of the game, pvp is not scripted like pve and to do well you had to have some element of skill.
