Oct 2, 2009 - Valve, creator of best-selling game franchises (such as Half-Life and Counter-Strike) and leading technologies (such as Steam and Source), today announced pre-order details for its upcoming action thriller, Left 4 Dead 2 (http://store.steampowered.com/app/550/) (L4D2).

Starting now, those who pre-order L4D2 via Steam will receive early access to the Left 4 Dead 2 demo (currently targeted for October 27) plus an exclusive in-game item - the American baseball bat, one of the 10 new melee weapons included in the game.

In addition, Steam is offering a 10% savings to those who pre-order.

Got mine on preorder and got the demo too but steam was being a dick about it. The conversation went like this...

first it wanted to decrypt itself , when it was done with that it told me my drivers wernt upto date, tried to update pc moaned that it was the wrong driver for my pc finally got the driver installed then steam decided it didnt want to work

Yeah I had a bit of a problem getting it to run too. Had to download it twice for some reason and then it wouldn't open, it just flashed up a window for a split second then nothing.

Closed Steam and opened it again and it decided to decrypt itself which took a while then it finally worked.

Loved the game although the music/sound could do with a bit of work. Can't say I care much for the characters either.

i love some of the new weapons (found a guitar today :D ROCK N ROLL!!) and the new infected seem quite cool (i had a Charger run at me from a dark tunnel)

Yeah I got the decrypting thing too. I got the driver thing for the first L4D as well but I knew it was as much crap then as it is now, for some reason L4D games just like to tell you your drivers are out of date.

Got the demo working though and by working I mean I can always get to the second safe house before it crashes saying "out of memory". Dear god I hope the real game isn't this buggy.

there were only 2 safehouses in the demo anyway and it got quite buggy for me as it trys to load the main menu again

Works fine with me (now... after steam being too much under pressure).

First time I played it, hears the witch music but where is she? OH S***, she walking about RUNAWAY XD .

3rd try, throws boomer bile at her which does nothing apart from piss her off and cause FAIL in my general direction...

Apart from the demo being too short, can't see the point of that damn boycott group, apart from the relase date of this game

Hope this game is worth the cod:mw2 money i was going to spend.

Yeah the demo has largely calmed my fears that there wouldn't be enough new stuff in here to justify the cost. I love the new goryness of it especially when you slash a zombie open with the machete.

And that damn wandering witch caught me out twice, you just don't expect her to be walking about so you shoot her and BAM! You got a witch carving you some new holes.

Also that spitter is freaky/disgusting one time she got on a ledge on top of me and I looked up to see her disgusting saggy zombie boobs in my face. :(

I was looking all over Aberdeen today for Pre-Order Codes. None of the gaming shops have them for Physical Release versions of L4D2.

I wouldn't have minded, but Bills Hat was the tipping point.

(I'll probably get the digital version preordered, then buy a disk and gift the disk's code fpr someone else. I don't want to DL from Steam everytime I have to uninstall L4D2)
