Heres a mod we could try: Forgotten Hope (http://www.fileplanet.com/183175/180000/fileinfo/Battlefield-2---Forgotten-Hope-v2.2-Client), makes BF2 into BF1942 but nearly 3GB in size and the mod site is down atm...

and just found out that dice released a tiny patch to fix an alt + tab issue
